INDIA SETS ITS SIGHTS ON GLOBAL LEADERSHIP IN SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

At the 65th Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the conversation centred on a single question — what will it take for India to lead the global transition to sustainable mobility by 2047?

Under the theme “Key Enablers Driving Global Leadership in Sustainable Mobility,” the session brought together government officials, industry leaders, and policy advisors to outline the next phase of India’s automotive evolution.

Tarun Kapoor, Adviser to the Prime Minister, emphasised the need for the industry to integrate with the Anusandhan National Research Foundation to strengthen local R&D and innovation. He called for a broader approach that includes biofuels, gaseous fuels, and electrification, noting that Compressed Bio Gas, in particular, holds significant untapped potential. Kapoor added that while domestic demand will continue to grow, India must also aim to expand its global footprint.
