Author, writing coach and motivational speaker, Sudha Menon is out with her fourth book—Devi, Diva or She-Devil: The Smart Career Woman’s Survival Guide. We caught up with her at the Dehradun Community Literature Festival.
To begin with, how did the transition from journalism to authoring happen? Tell us about it.
It was quite natural. After 23 years of writing news for publications like The Independent, The Hindu and The Mint, a certain kind of monotony had set in and I wanted to write something more endearing. Beside s, for a kid who harboured a dream to have her name on the cover of a book, I wanted to turn my dream into a reality.
Why do you mostly choose to write about inspirational people?
Women like social activist Ela Bhatt and athlete P.T. Usha inspired me growing up. I am fascinated not only by their extraordinary success stories, but also by the work they do to shape the lives of others. I want these stories to be told.
