HEART AND MIND
Last time out here at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a sheer desire to win saw us home against Leeds United – a resolve typified by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Having fallen behind to Marcelo Bielsa’s side in a difficult first half, a renewed approach in the second period – one of grit and determination – saw us turn the game on its head come full time to earn Antonio Conte his first Premier League win as our Head Coach.

Pierre was the man to get us level, guiding the ball home just short of the hour mark for his third goal of the season already. Notably, though, there were no celebrations from the Denmark international after his strike, just a gesture to his teammates, instructing them to get the ball back to the center circle as quickly as possible so they could go and finish the job in hand.

Just over 10 minutes later, we did just that, with Sergio Reguilon finding the target – this time, the Dane did celebrate, and the relief was palpable.

After the game, our midfield general spoke about the importance of desire. For Pierre, it is a foundation in his mentality, something his psyche is built on. He is an ambitious man, not just on the pitch but off it, and that is what drives him in his life. He also takes great care in his work, going the extra mile on and off the pitch, putting everything he has into all that he takes on.

Despite having only been with us in north London for just under 18 months, he is a big voice in the dressing room, a leader, and is well respected for his work rate and selflessness. His determination to succeed is clear to see.
