Score Settled!

Fishing a water that hasn’t done a fish in five months can be a daunting prospect, but Arron Fisher had a score to settle when he returned to Anglers Paradise in Devon. After losing one of the big mirrors, a fish known as Gorilla, from Kracking Carp Lake on his last visit 14 months earlier, the 40-year-old plumber from Callington, Cornwall, had been unable to get the loss out of his head. Intent on exacting his revenge, he booked on for a 48-hour session, but with little more than an hour remaining of his stay, it looked as though Arron’s trip was going to end in failure, but as he started to pack away, he was alerted by a violent drop-back on his right-hand rod. Picking up the rod, Arron had to wind and wind until finally he connected with a fish that had swum along the margin. A brief fight followed before Arron slid his net under the same fish that had escaped him 14 months previously. Weighing in at 47lb 6oz (above), it was a new personal best for Arron and his fourth UK forty in little more than a year.
