We count down the 10 biggest stories of the year.
10. Wide receiver watch
As with most everything on this list, there’s a COVID-19 element because the Dolphins found themselves searching for receivers late in the season not only because of injuries but also because veterans Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson both took the option of opting out of the season. The Dolphins ended up looking at a wide variety of options, including a rookie (Lynn Bowden Jr.) they acquired in a trade just before the start of the regular season, a wide receiver they brought back after he was traded and waived (Isaiah Ford) and a former fourth-round pick who returned from a league suspension but didn’t pan out (Antonio Callway).
9. The big rookies
The Dolphins invested in the offensive line in the draft by selecting three offensive linemen in the first four rounds and two of them, Austin Jackson and Solomon Kindley, became opening-day starters. After Jackson returned from a stint on injured reserve, the Dolphins made franchise history by starting three rookies on the offensive line when Robert Hunt joined the other two. As one would expect, there were some growing pains but also some promise shown by each of those three players.
8. Running back reversal
