Kalukanda House A LABOUR OF LOVE

Hailed as a little paradise on earth, Kalukanda House is a luxurious, stylish villa that is situated in the beautiful fishing town of Weligama. The idyllic villa is a result of a Dee Gibson’s unwavering love for the serene lodge. For those who wish to spend time away from the hustle and bustle lifestyle, Kalukanda House is the ideal getaway to indulge in a luxurious experience. Opening their doors in 2018, the family-run privately owned boutique hotel has entertained a vast range of guests from all over the world, from TV writers taking abode while overseeing filming on set to art directors conducting photo shoots for magazines, and families who are keen on exploring Weligama.

Dedicated to the vision of sustainability, the structure of the villa from its roof to doors and windows are built from re-used materials. Gibson ensures that the property is designed for “those who love luxury, want adventure and immersive experiences, and who are keen to interact at a human level with a country and its people.” She has successfully refined the land set within the tropical grounds and flora and fauna to its full vibrant potential. Reflecting the identity of Sri Lanka, all furniture in the villa were made by local craftsmen.
