Q I worked out yesterday and now it hurts to live. Whence this cruelty?

A This is called delayed-onset muscle soreness, and it sucks. It’s the result of contracting muscles over and over, which tears their fibres, says certified personal trainer Stephanie Sanzo, creator of the Build programme on the Sweat app. Since your muscles then rebuild and become stronger, this is a good thing. But work in some low-intensity cardio like the elliptical to keep the blood flowing through your sore bod, she adds. It sounds awful, but it will help.

Q Are morning workouts really better – or can I skip them for the rest of my life?

A You can cancel them. ‘Physiologically, they aren’t superior to exercising at any other point in the day,’ says certified trainer Anna Victoria, creator of the Fit Body app. If you’re psyched to sweat at 6 pm or even 9 pm, go forth and get after it, my friend.
