The BEGINNING!
MOHANLAL VISWANATHAN NAIR, BORN IN 1960, IS THE LAST CHILD OF A GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE AND HIS WIFE.
He followed up schooling with a degree in commerce. Mohanlal acted in his first film Thiranottam, in 1978. However, the movie took over twenty-five years to release and saw the light of day, only in 2005. When his friends sent his photo for a casting call, he was auditioned for the role but two of the four director judges were unimpressed with his performance. However, directors Fazil and Jijo Appachan were impressed by Mohanlal and he played the lead in Fazil’s maiden directorial Manjil Virinja Pookkal, which went on to become a blockbuster. After playing roles with negative shades in a couple of movies, Lalettan turned successful hero with the movie Ivide Thudangunnu. There has been no looking back, ever since.
