When sahaya sheelan decided to enter movies, he was given a screen name by upendra; a name that has become synonymous with comedy and music in kannada cinema. The name is sadhu kokila and he is one of the best comedians as well as music directors that sandalwood has seen till date; but these two aren’t the only avatars he has aced in cinema... He is also a highly successful director, producer, lyricist and screenplay writer.
the BEGINNING...
BORN AS THE SECOND SON TO A FAMILY STEEPED IN MUSICAL BACKGROUND IN BANGALORE, SAHAYA SHEELAN SHADRACH HAD TO LIVE UP TO A VERY BIG REPUTATION. His elder brother Layendra wanted to nurture his brother as a musician and took him to the famous musician Kasturi Shankar to further his career. However, it was acting that gave Sahaya Sheelan his much needed break in celluloid. The 1992 movie Sorry saw Sahaya Sheelan making his acting debut. The following year saw Shhh! happening, which turned out to be his second acting venture but also debut music directorial. The director of this movie - Upendra christened Sahaya Sheelan as Sadhu Kokila and thus began a new chapter in the history of Kannada cinema.
