When I rented an apartment, I asked the landlord about water quality and he said it was good. But when I checked the water tank, the water was greenish. Do landlords not know or not care?

In most places in India, there are two types of water available in homes ground water and processed water. Ground water is not potable and the government supplies processed water to every home through pipelines. Therefore, in most houses, ground water is used for washing (dishes and clothes), gardening and cleaning. The processed water is used for cooking and drinking.

Having said this, here's what could have happened in your case: • If you had asked the landlord about the water quality in general, you would have meant all water supplied to the house you live in.
