Bengaluru: The largest city in the state, it was once referred to as the Garden City of India and a Pensioner's Paradise. It is now called the Silicon Valley of India as it is the centre of the country's information technology industry. It has many notable institutions, quirky shops, picturesque sites, vibrant temples, interesting historical structures and lively cafes. Some of the interesting places to visit include the former royal residences such as the Bangalore Palace, which is modelled after the Windsor Castle in UK, and Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, which is built entirely out of teak.

Hampi: Hampi, also known as the city of ruins, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the capital of the Vijayanagar Empire and is full of age-old temples, royal pavilions and architectural marvels. It is now visited for its ruins, revived street market, historic ambience and alluring landscape.

ATTEND

Ugadi: The word word 'ugadi' is a combination of two words-'yuga', which means 'age', and 'adi', which means 'beginning'. On this day, people celebrate the beginning of a new year by cleaning their homes, wearing new clothes and going to the temple. Observed annually in the month of April, this festival is celebrated by cooking delicious delicacies including Ugadi pachadi, which is a mixture of six different flavours-sweet, sour, salty, pungent, spicy and bitter. These signify that life is a mixture of happiness, sadness, anger, disgust, fear and surprise.
