All jobs will soon require employees to never stop learning, especially if they want their skills to remain relevant.
-
There is a beautiful saying that goes, ‘never stop learning, for the world never stops teaching.’ it is no secret that the world around us is teaching us lessons all the time, and now at a more rapid pace than ever before. entire industries and sectors are undergoing major shifts, and it is estimated that many of today’s market leaders will cease to exist in a decade or two from now. rapid advances in technology, coupled with the forces of globalisation, are shaping a new world. While it is threatening for incumbent players, there are opportunities for those who can adapt to the changing order.
Perhaps more than any other sector, professional learning is being affected the most by this changing scenario. increasingly, manager and leaders need both lifelong learning and accelerated, on-demand learning, as a response to the pressures of the changing corporate landscape.
The changing equation
While the cost of getting a professional degree goes up every year, technological advances are reducing the lifespan of skills. this leads to an inevitable conclusion—an increasingly global and automation-prone workforce needs to continuously learn and retrain.
