Upgrading power systems for reliability and resilience

Leveraging existing underutilised infrastructure alongside targeted upgrades can balance network load and improve reliability.

India has made remarkable progress in power availability.
Earlier, many villages struggled with just two to four hours of electricity a day. Today, power reaches even the remotest areas, with supply extending up to 22 hours. This reflects the nation's shift from power deficiency to near-round-the-clock availability. For those who once lived with limited electricity, the change is truly significant, from planning daily life around short supply hours to enjoying reliable, consistent power.
It is a clear sign of the country's strengthened energy infrastructure, improving lives and supporting rural development nationwide.
Reliability and resilience
While power availability across India has improved remarkably, the next step is to ensure reliability and resilience. These qualities will emerge only when the existing infrastructure is maintained, upgraded, and modernised in line with the evolving complexity of power generation.
As the energy mix diversifies with renewables, the grid must become more intelligent and responsive.
