Lawal reveals mental anguish of long injury absence
BOSUN Lawal admits his prolonged stay in the Stoke City treatment room last season was probably the toughest period of his life.
The 22-year-old is now in the final stages of his comeback from a hamstring injury picked up in late September.
But he has already shown in the first couple of months of this season why Stoke were prepared to wait for him when a medical flagged up a back problem as he signed from Celtic in summer 2024.
Still, he didn’t expect them to have to wait anything as long as they did and it took some cajoling from family and friends to help him through pretty much a whole season on the sidelines.
He said: “I knew there was something up with my back. I'd played in midfield in a season on loan at Fleetwood and there wasn’t a game that went by when I didn’t end up in agony.
