Tributes after Olympic hero passes away
TRIBUTES have been paid to Olympian Imran Sherwani who has passed away.
The hockey legend scored two goals in the final of the 1988 Seoul Olympics to help secure Great Britain gold.
But the dad-of-three was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer's in 2019 at the age of 57.
The Olympic glory was a far cry from Imran's day-to-day life as a newsagent in Cobridge.
After quitting the international stage he went on to coach at Leek Hockey Club and served as director of hockey at Denstone College.
