Moore: Time for players was positive in Trophy tie

DARREN Moore saw his team top Northern Group G in Vertu Trophy and declared, “it was minutes in legs for players that hadn’t played for a little while so it was really good.”

His Valiants team drew 3-3 against Fleetwood Town, who won an extra point by winning the penalty shootout even though it made no difference to the standings.

Both teams qualified for the knockout phase while Vale will be guaranteed a home draw.

“They [Fleetwood] kept it honest and true with their commitment and endeavour,” Moore told the club.

“I thought it was a good game in terms of both sides having already qualified for the second round. What we wanted to do was come here and achieve getting top of the group. And that is exactly what we've done
