Daredevil Angela's still flying high – at 90!
The Sentinel
|November 15, 2025
THROWING yourself out of a plane thousands of feet above the ground takes some guts - just ask 90-year-old Angela Gledenning.
That's exactly how the veteran Newcastle campaigner has chosen to mark her 'last hurrah' after decades dedicated to raising cash for good causes across the Potteries.
On Monday she'll be taking to the skies above Whitchurch, Shropshire, to help asylum seeker charity Asha North Staffordshire, and Emmaus North Staffs' Beds for Kids campaign.
And she's certainly not fazed as the the prospect of plunging earthwards approaches. Angela said: "Of course, it goes without saying that I'm not able to do some of the things I used to do. Your stamina and all the rest of it fades. But one of the things somebody like me can still do is jump out of a plane. Because on some level it doesn't require any effort. You’re strapped to a skydiver, they pull the cord and get you to the ground.
