Probe into stream pollution after dogs fall sick
The Journal
|May 26, 2025
THE Environment Agency has launched an investigation into pollution at a Sunderland stream after dogs began suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea.
-
The probe comes after councillors in the city demanded the Environment Agency take urgent action to clean up a stream at the Cutthroat Dene area of Seaburn after vets issued warnings that dogs suffering vomiting and diarrhoea could be linked to visits there.
Lib Dem councillors for the Fulwell and Seaburn areas say they have been asking the agency to take action for two years after receiving evidence of faecal contamination in the stream which is a popular spot for dog walkers.
