Gig club travels to capital to compete in Great River Race

MEMBERS of Pendeen Pilot Gig Club have travelled to London to compete in the annual 22-mile Great River Race on the Thames.

They joined around 300 other crews in boats of various sorts to row from Millwall Docks in east London, passing under 28 bridges, to Richmond in West London.
The six rowers were joined by a seventh, to relieve tired legs and arms, and a cox to steer the gig.
A spokesperson said: “We were there to compete in one of the biggest river events of the entire year.
