Hundreds of singers unite for Shanty Shout to raise cash for health centre

THE ninth St Ives Shanty Shout has brought almost 100 hours of singing to the town and raised almost £5,000 for its Edward Hain health and wellbeing centre.

Eleven venues hosted some 300 singers and 34 groups including Kimber’s Men, who travel down from Yorkshire every year to take part.

The evening’s planned performances were topped off with impromptu ‘shouts’, where rousing singing could be heard from outside venues as audiences joined in with well-known local tunes.
