RNLI forced to ride out storm at sea
The Cornishman
|November 27, 2025
BAD weather and choppy seas forced an RNLI crew to wait for hours in their lifeboat after being called to a rescue off St Ives.
-
The seven volunteers crewing the Nora Stachura were called out at about 3.20am on Wednesday, November 19, to search for a casualty along the coast from Gurnard’s Head to Wolf Rock.
An RNLI spokesperson said the St Ives crew had faced difficult conditions, with a strong north wind producing gusts of up to 50 knots.
They also encountered large waves and poor visibility in the area.
The casualty was located by police officers and the lifeboat crew was stood down.
