Trump takes aim at NASA funding

A draft proposal from the US presidential budget shows severe cuts to planetary science

The Trump administration has proposed a series of severe cuts to NASA's funding in a draft version of its budget. The initial budget request calls for an average 20 per cent cut, with severe cuts to heliophysics, Earth science and planetary science budgets. The harshest reduction comes to astrophysics, which has its budget slashed by two thirds, down to around $487 million.
