Scientists discover how enormous, fast-spinning black holes can exist after all

Back in 2023, a massive collision was detected as two enormous black holes merged into one gargantuan singularity. But the gigantic masses, and the very fast spin of those black holes, were of a kind that astronomers previously thought couldn't form at all, let alone collide.
Now, a new study carried out by Flatiron Institute's Center for Computational Astrophysics has shown a way for them to exist - and it's all to do with magnetic fields.
