Long-awaited discovery finds crystalline water-ice in star's debris disc

For a long time, astronomers have expected frozen water may be scattered in systems around other stars.
Now, for the first time, scientists have discovered definitive proof. Data from the NIRSpec (Near-Infrared Spectrograph) on the James Webb Space Telescope has confirmed the presence of crystalline water-ice in the dusty debris orbiting a Sun-like star called HD 181327.
