Fans turnout for Lemmy statue unveiling

HUNDREDS of fans descended on the Mother Town for the unveiling of a new statue of Motörhead frontman, Lemmy.

They packed into Market Place, in Burslem, for the event on Friday afternoon.

The statue has been designed by Blurton sculptor Andy Edwards - and had space to include Lemmy’s ashes.

Adele Richards, 73, and Mark Deville, 68, right, described themselves as 'Stoke-on-Trent's oldest rockers.

Adele said: "I didn't manage to go to see Motörhead at Vale Park in 1981 because I had four girls to look after!

But I think the statue is great. Burslem used to be so busy and I think it needs a bit of Lemmy - lots of people will want to come and see it.”

Peter Stirzakr was there in 1981 when Motörhead played Vale Park.
