School marks 50 years in the same building

Week of celebration around city's heritage

PUPILS have taken a week off their normal curriculum to celebrate the city's centenary, which ties in with another milestone for the school.

Children at St Paul's C.E Primary School, in Longton, have been learning more about the city and its history - and tasting oatcakes.

This year the school also celebrated 50 years since the building was built.

At the time it was called Edensor Middle School and was officially opened on March 25, 1975.

The school decided to combine both occasions into a week of learning and celebration.

This ended with an afternoon of fun with fairground rides, bouncy castles and much more put on by the school for the community.

Work by the children was also put on display.
