Couple stunned to receive £60 fine after change to pay and stay rules
MOTORISTS are being handed £60 parking fines on a town centre car park - after an apparent change to 'pay-and-stay' rules.
Jessica and Harry Julian paid to park at the Lymelight Boulevard, in Newcastle, after visiting an escape room with friends.
But their 90-minute stay ended with a £60 fine. Other drivers have lodged similar complaints.
The car park tariff states it is £1.50 for one hour, £2.60 for two hours, £3.70 for three hours, £4.80 for four hours, and £5.70 for 24-hour parking.
Jessica, aged 29, of Chesterton, said: "I've been using that car park for 11 years, ever since I passed my driving test. It had always operated the same way.
