Debrah reveals 'anger' over his 'difficult spell'

JESSE Debrah admitted he was “angry” at being left out of the Port Vale team in January and it drove him to improve to make sure he kept his place.

The Valiants defender scored the last-gasp goal to earn Vale a point against Grimsby Town on Monday and he has been a regular in the last few weeks.

But he was left out for a large chunk of the early part of this year - before returning for forgotten man Ben Heneghan who hasn't featured in recent squads.

Looking back at when he was left out by Darren Moore, Debrah said: “I am enjoying it now and it’s a blessing to be out there with my team-mates. Playing for my team, the staff, the community and Port Vale. I never take it for granted.

“There was a difficult spell in the new year in January where I didn’t play a single minute and I was angry. Like any player would be.
