TEACHERS GOING THE EXTRA MILE

Teachers from another school affected by North Tyneside Council's plans are taking on a 10k fundraising run every day to help prevent its closure.

Three members of staff from Langley First School in Whitley Bay school are aiming to take on the distance for 60 days to raise as much money as possible.

Alli Pendleton, who teaches in Year 3, Steph Taylor, who teaches in Reception, and Sarah Clarke, a Year 1 teaching assistant, are running about 373 miles each, finishing on January 12, alongside Allis husband Tim.

They launched their mission from the school’s gates in Monkseaton on Friday, and were joined by some of their colleagues on the first leg, including head teacher Simon Ward and chair of governors Chris Riding.
