Mandaue City Council wants students taught traffic safety

The Mandaue City Council has passed a resolution urging the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) to implement initiatives that will educate students on traffic safety, particularly the use of skywalks and pedestrian lanes when crossing highways.

In an interview yesterday, Councilor Kevin Cabahug said that DepEd Mandaue City Division and TEAM should include road safety measures and traffic rules during class orientations to constantly remind students about them.

“It’s a matter of mind-setting nga atong i-instill sa mga bata and even sa tanang lumulupyo nga malikayan lang g'yud ang disgrasya,” Cabahug stressed.

The call came after a recent accident involving a 13-year-old student who was killed after being run over by a truck along MC Briones Street in Barangay Looc last Wednesday night.
