School helps the most vulnerable

NEW FORDWAY CENTRE'S MULTI-MILLION REVAMP

PUPILS at a school in Surrey now have state-of-the-art classrooms after a multi-million pound transformation.

The Fordway Centre, in Stanwell, has now officially reopened after it was rebuilt to support some of the most vulnerable pupils in the county. The school operates as a short-stay designed to take in primary aged children who are finding it difficult to thrive in mainstream education.

This means that class sizes are small (up to eight pupils) and teachers aim to help pupils reengage with learning and, where appropriate, transition back into mainstream schools.

The new building includes group rooms and calm spaces, as well as a large community kitchen and dining area, an activity room, staff areas, playground and multi-use games area.

There is a strong focus on emotional wellbeing and the school provides a calm and structured environment to foster positive behaviour and academic re-engagement.
