BIRTS SAYS CLUB IS READY TO FIGHT BACK AFTER RELEGATION
GUILDFORD Cricket Club captain Olly Birts says that there is only one aim this summer - and that is to get back to the Premier League of the Surrey Championship.
Following their relegation last term, Guildford got their Division One campaign off to a winning start on Saturday when they defeated Camberley by 99 runs.
Having lost the toss, Birts' side were asked to bat first and after they had been a dismissed for 205, there were a few nerves in the dressing room.
But those were soon settled as Guildford had their hosts 14-2 before Birts himself spun through the middle order with 4-31 from his ten overs.
Camberley were ultimately dismissed for 106 in the 34th over.
Birts, who is also the club's director of cricket, said: "It was nice to get a win, a little bit nervy at half time, but the bowling and fielding was very good.
"Nice start to the summer.
"We were very unsure what do at the toss, so we were pretty relaxed doing both.
