Boxer Lee makes it 12 victories in as many fights

GUILDFORD southpaw Jimmy Lee admits that he was thinking more about the future than his opponent on Saturday night, writes Michael Reeves.

The 21-year-old edged a 58-57 points win over Mexico's Mario Portillo at the York Hall on Saturday night to make it 12 victories from as many fights.

In a gruelling battle with the Mexican, Lee, nicknamed The Problem and who trains at Guildford City Boxing Club, had to overcome the lengthy reach of his opponent as well some of the dark arts of the pugilistic game.

But in only his second fight of 2025, the last being at the start of May after almost a year out, it was super-featherweight Lee who had his hand raised in victory by referee Sean McAvoy.
