ECCLESHALL are the new leaders in NSSCL Premier B after defeating previous incumbents Wood Lane.

- By Chris Travers

Eccleshall posted 142 all out in the first half of the meeting between the high-fliers, fronted by Myles Coughlan’s 39.

Ben Rogerson (27), Andrew Calvert (25), Ejaz Nawaz (17no) and Rhys Owens (15) also made starts for the home side.

Spinner Richard Hassall scooped 4-30 for Wood Lane, while Zaighum Abbas picked up 3-36.

Wood Lane saw plenty of batsmen get out of the blocks in their run chase - but none of them could go on to make a matchwinning contribution.

Danny Brierley and Jake Thompson made 15 apiece, Eddie Visser struck 13 not out, Ben McGuire chipped in with 12 and Martin Dawson made 11.

However, Wood Lane who dropped to third as a result were dismissed for 95 as Calvert and Coughlan helped themselves to 4-29 and 3-10 respectively.

Cheadle are up to second after their comprehensive win at Elworth. Alfie Bonehill’s half-century formed the backbone of Cheadle’s 228-8 from their 55 overs in Cheshire.

Bonehill hit 15 fours in his 76, with support forthcoming from Matthew Goodwin (47no) and Andrew Coxon (39).

Jarrod McKay (3-47) and Chris Winter (3-48) took three wickets apiece for the home side.

Elworth never gained any real momentum in their reply as plenty of batsmen made double figures but couldn’t go on.
