Barry Birch was also a former town mayor
TRIBUTES are being paid after the death of a pub landlord and former mayor. Barry Birch ran a number of North Staffordshire pubs including The Swan and The Priory, in Leek, as well as The Lazy Trout, in Meerbrook, and The Winking Man.
It was at The Swan where Barry teamed up with darts legend Eric Bristow to run the boozer from 2009. The pair had been friends for more than four decades when The Crafty Cockney passed away in 2018.
