Children's home age limit lifted despite protests from neighbours

CONTROVERSIAL plans to remove age restrictions on a children's home have been approved, despite strong public objections to the scheme. Now the home in Cheadle will be allowed to care for four vulnerable children aged zero to 18.

Previously an approved scheme by applicant Heronceau Refurbishment Ltd had permission to care for four children aged between eight and 16 at the Millers View property. However they claimed that operational needs and to reflect current childcare regulations prompted the change.

The proposed changes were objected to by 17 local residents who claimed the changes would cause problems with antisocial behaviour. Local ward councillor Mike Haines and Cheadle Town Council also objected to the plans.
