Rebecca asked to sign up newborn as extra in soap

- BY SANDRA MALLON Showbiz Editor

FAIR City's Rebecca Grimes has told how a soap colleague asked if she wanted to sign her newborn daughter up as an extra.

The actress - who plays Hayley Collins in the RTE One soap - welcomed her daughter Dara last December with husband Paul Donegan.

Rebecca's character is set to return to Carrigstown later this week and not everyone is happy to see her.

But when asked if she would consider signing little Dara up as an extra, she said jokingly she was already asked if Dara wanted to be an extra.

Rebecca said: "It's funny, and Ryan [Andrews] had actually asked me if I was interested in doing that with Dara, because I don't know what the deals are with, like baby licensing and stuff, but they can't work a whole lot.

"So it's always a job share. So he had asked me, would Dara be interested.

DREAM

"But she was so small at the time. I think she was maybe six weeks old, and at that point, I couldn't have imagined putting her in front of the camera or anyone else kind of having her, I don't know. I don't know.

"I was just like, I feel a bit funny about this. But as she gets older, then maybe...

"And I feel like I'd love it to be something that she loves. I won't be a stage mom pushing her into anything if that's not her dream, you know."
