'There were drinks on the ceiling and pizza in the sofa'

As teenagers celebrate their exam results, mum blogger Sally Ross warns other parents what can go wrong after her 15-year-old's bash got out of hand
-
When Sally Ross tentatively ventured downstairs after her then 15-year-old's end-of-year summer party, she was unprepared for the scenes that awaited her.
"There wasn't an inch of the floor that wasn't sticky, there were drink and food marks on the sofas, windowsills, floor and carpet," says the Who's the Mummy? blogger, 51.
"There was pizza stuffed down the back of the sofa, but we didn't discover the drink stains on the ceiling until at least a couple of weeks later."
With GCSE results coming out on Thursday, Sally, from Lancashire, has teamed up with MoneySuperMarket to remind people to get home and contents insurance before hosting parties.
She now hopes her hard-won wisdom will help other teen parents following recent MoneySuperMarket research. It found half of Brits have suffered house-party disasters, more than a third (34%) have had drinks spilled on their carpets or furniture, and 28% were left with food stains.

"We'd had a smaller party the year before with just girls," explains Sally, who also posts to 14,200 followers on Instagram @thesallyross. "And it had gone well and it had lulled me into a foolish sense of security that I was an excellent parent who can host parties and everything will be fine.
