VILLA will have a two-goal deficit to make up in next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg after losing 3-1 to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Late third goal makes the job even harder for Villa

Villa took the lead in the 35th minute through Morgan Rogers, who finished at the back post after being picked out by Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans received the ball from Marcus Rashford, who was initially found by John McGinn.

Desire Doue equalised shortly after Villa's opener with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Matty Cash was booked in the first half, prompting Unai Emery to bring on Axel Disasi at right-back. However, the Chelsea loanee was soon beaten by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia just after the restart.

Inside the box, Kvaratskhelia blasted the ball into the roof of Emiliano Martinez's net from a tight angle to complete the turnaround for the hosts.

Nuno Mendes extended the host's lead in the second minute of second half added time.

Villa, playing at this level of European football for the first time since 1983, had enjoyed a serene run to the last eight but faced their toughest challenge yet against the recently crowned French champions.
