HUGE 7.2 HECTRE SITE SHOULD DEAL WITH EVERYTHING THROWN AT IT
THE new 'super tip' taking shape on an old factory site will double the number of recycling skips in Walsall.
Construction is well underway on the huge 7.2 hectare site on Middlemore Lane, Aldridge, with hopes high that the £32 million Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will be open in time for Christmas.
Walsall Council says the site will 'future-proof' the borough to cope with new legislation on recycling and fly-tipping and up to 1,300 new homes each year.
The HWRC will be split into three main areas: A much larger recycling centre, taking over from the Merchants Way site around half a mile away.
A waste transfer centre, transferred from Fryers Road.
An upcycling shop for residents and new homebuyers, who will be able to purchase starter packs containing items to help them settle in.
