The heart of the home should be a cosy space that draws you in, particularly at the most festive time of the year
1 ARTISTIC LICENCE
Artwork in warm tones dials the mood to cosy in this kitchen, proving how art can instantly enrich an interior. Here, a bold abstract painting in earthy hues injects energy and warmth. 'Another heartwarming feature is the antiqued mirrored wall, which adds a sense of understated glamour, while reflecting light throughout the room,' says interior designer Rebecca Hughes. A marble-topped table and softly glowing metallic pendants create an atmosphere that's both inviting and intimate.

2 COPPER TONE
Metal can be as visually warming and comforting as wood when integrated with care, says Charlie Smallbone of Ledbury Studio. ‘For me, metal doesn't have to feel cold or industrial. This kitchen proves it can bring warmth and welcome, turning a bold design into a space where you'd happily spend a Sunday morning.’ Here, copper is the star. ‘It's not just beautiful; it's alive. Over time, it will shift and patinate, developing its own character as the family lives with it,’ he adds. Paired with black-stained oak and distressed brass handles, the metallic surfaces add both texture and richness.

3 INTO THE WOODS
Even the sleekest, most modern kitchens can feel warm and inviting when timber is elegantly layered into the scheme. ‘The finishes palette in this kitchen presents a balance between stylish contemporary furniture and creating a homely space,’ explains Ben Hawkswell, senior designer at Roundhouse. The herringbone flooring and profiled oak panels in a rich smoked oak stain contrast beautifully with off-black cabinetry and cool stonework. ‘The natural warmth and texture of the timber softens the modern aesthetic, bringing a sense of comfort and cosiness to the space,’ he adds.
