LUCY Bathurst's journey into textile design began with a simple love for making things.

'I come from a long line of Scottish women who were handy with a needle and thread,' she says. 'My grandmother wrote a book on patchworking, and our mother taught me and my sisters to sew when we were young. I loved thinking about something I wanted, working out how it would be put together, then seeing it come to life.'
