Big Family Charm

A custom-built home brings beauty and function to a growing family in coastal Florida.

The Clarks found their perfect homesite when they rounded the bend of a magnolia lined street and saw a bald eagle perched on a live oak in a plot of land. "My husband and I both looked at each other and said, 'It's a sign!'" Jessica says. With four children ranging in ages from three to fourteen, the Clarks decided to relocate from South Georgia to Ponte Vedra Beach for a slower pace of life.

The family turned to designer Angie Hummell from Nesting Place Interiors to maximize space in the building plans. By including a mudroom with six locker spaces, a laundry room with double washers and dryers, and an extensive exterior patio which adds 1,348 square feet of outdoor space, the family of six fit perfectly. “While we were heavily involved in the design process, our friends at Nesting Place put it all together and helped turn our house into a home,” Jessica explains.

PRETTY AND PRACTICAL

It's hard to miss the soft, elegant details which fill every room of this expansive new build. “The family wanted a comfortable, family-friendly home that was also beautiful,” Angie says. Instead of using bold patterns and contrasting colors to capture interest, the designer used carefully curated layers with varying shapes and textures. Marble side tables with intricately turned legs, painted wicker furniture, seashell mirror frames and pottery scattered throughout the home add to the layered, pretty look.
