So many holiday collectibles are miniature, from tiny reindeer and light-up Santas to angel tree toppers and plushy snowmen. But the pinnacle of Christmas miniatures is the Putz house. You can opt for the vintage variety, buy them new or even make them yourself, as Dawn Newell of The Pink Tree has done. But whatever way you acquire them, you’re tapping into a rich history of German and American traditions.

DIY A PUTZ HOUSE

What You'll Need:

• Miniature house design

• Sturdy cardstock

• X-Acto knife

• Cellophane or clear plastic folder liners (office supply)

• Foam board

• Glue

• Craft paint

• Mod Podge or another adhesive material

• Glitter

• Tiny bottlebrush trees and wreaths

• Any other accents
