SHOULD ALL OTHER electric SUVs just throw in the towel? At the very least, the rivals of the new Kia EV3 must surely be exchanging some nervous glances towards their corner.

We first test drove this electric SUV in Korea, and not only did it have the measure of rivals such as the Peugeot e-2008 (which it handily undercuts on price), but it also seemed to challenge much bigger, more expensive cars. Well, we've now had a chance to really get to know the EV3 in the UK - and our positive first impressions have only intensified.

The EV3 line-up opens with a 'standard range' 58.3kWh model. That figure relates to its battery's total capacity; the usable capacity is 55kWh. This version has an official range of up to 270 miles - which will probably do for many buyers.

Those for whom it won't can opt for the 81.4kWh version, which has a usable battery capacity of 78kWh and an official range of up to 375 miles. That's farther than any Tesla Model Y will take you.
