This electric SUV is our newly crowned Used Car of the Year. Here's everything you need to know about buying one

- MARK PEARSON

Skoda Enyaq

ON SALE FROM 2021-present

PRICE FROM £12,000

OUR FAVOURITE VERSION 60 Loft

THE SKODA ENYAQ may share much of its underpinnings with several other electric SUVs (including the Audi Q4 e-tron and Volkswagen ID 4), but like Baby Bear’s porridge, it has proved to be the one that’s ‘just right’.

Whether you're talking about price, practicality, interior quality or comfort, the Enyaq ticks all of the boxes to be in the sweet spot.

If it’s a strong contender when new, the Enyaq is an even better choice as a used buy; in fact, it’s such great value that it’s our reigning Used Car of the Year.

If you're looking at buying one, the lineup starts with the 177bhp, rear-wheel-drive 60 model, which has a 58kWh (usable capacity) battery. Then there’s a 201bhp 80 and a 261bhp 80X with four-wheel drive, both of which have a 77kWh battery. There's also a 299bhp Enyaq vRS with the same 77kWh battery, and this prioritises performance over range.

Speaking of range, the 60 can officially travel for 246 miles between charges. The 80 promises up to 339 miles, the 80X 318 miles and the vRS 312 miles.

No Enyaq is meanly equipped; the 60 features dual-zone climate control, power-folding door mirrors, auto-dimming mirrors, and cruise control. The 80 adds a heated steering wheel and extra parking aids.
