Practice Makes Perfect

Aesthetic upgrades influenced by the ancient art of Feng Shui make for the perfect abode for a multigenerational family

With three levels including a basement and an attic, as well as an interior that’s gorgeous to begin with, the terrace house at Charlton 27 is a dream for most. Home to a couple and their big family, space was definitely not an issue for the eight sharing the same roof. That said, the owners felt that changes were necessary to turn the house into a haven that they’d truly feel at ease in.

Designing the domicile according to Feng Shui principles was of utmost importance for the homeowners, so they engaged local interior design firm D’Marvel Scale to assist them in making the necessary tweaks. “Neutrals comprising mostly off-whites and earth tones set the base for a Feng Shui-influenced dwelling,” says Derrick Lim, the firm’s director. This failsafe palette doesn’t simply meet the requirements of this ancient Chinese practice, it is versatile enough to appeal to everyone in the household, from the most senior members of the family in their 60s to the 10-year-old youngsters.
