Modern Luxe Meets Brutalist

From a pool table to a glass-encased planter, bold design choices turn this home into a stylish space to play, dine, and unwind.

Modern luxe may call to mind polished finishes and an understated refinement, whereas Brutalist design leans into raw textures and bold sculptural elements. On their own, they feel like complete opposites. But with the imagination of interior designer Adeline Lim from LA Design, the two styles come together like yin and yang in this 4-room BTO flat in Fernvale.

“The homeowners are both designers and investors who spent much of their early years travelling the world and enjoying staycations at boutique hotels. When they purchased this home, they knew they wanted to recreate that sense of luxury and homeliness” explained Adeline.

Still, they wanted more than a sleek showflat façade. Their home needed to reflect their personalities, too, filled with nods to their penchant for streetwear brands and the art they’ve collected over the years. “At first glance, the space should express who they are.”
