Laura Borghi’s Milan apartment is full of contradictions. It’s imposing yet comfortable, spacious yet cosy, colourful yet calm. To Laura, the owner of Officine Saffi, a ceramic art dealer and gallery in the Italian city, the once-empty space of her home was a vessel into which she could pour her creative juices. Laura bought the property nine years ago and she has since let it morph and evolve around her, changing the arrangement and adding characterful furnishings and antiques gradually over the years. She moved here, along with her daughter Emma, dog Gilberto and cat Bibi, to be closer to the gallery. Also, the neighbourhood where she used to live, near the popular Parco Sempione, was becoming too rowdy at night.
