A significant day for Buddhists all over the world, Vesak commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Lord Buddha.

Home to the world famous Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu, Mannar is multicultural in nature and epitomises the true identity of Sri Lanka. Situated in the Northwest, this district consists of an area that is part of the mainland and also the Mannar Island, the largest islet in the country.
The April showers have summoned the bloom of flowers springing forth from the dewy grass much like a hearty sprinkle of colours on a canvas.
The ramparts of the Red Fort and its strong encircling wall seem to have taken the change in their stride and look as regal and overwhelming as they must have when the Mughal durbar was at the peak of its strength.
